RE: Newmar Mountain Aire vs Tiffin Phaeton

Pheton is entry level for Allegro while the MountainAire in 2000 was near the top of the line. No comparison between the two companies in overall quality. There is a reason why Tiffin Products are 15 to 29% lower in price than comparable Newmar products.
Also agree thbat the Spartan/Cummins combination is superior to the Phaeton chassis. You are right there is a reason but it is not quality. Do you even know what chassis the phaeton is on?

RE: Newmar Mountain Aire vs Tiffin Phaeton

The mountain aire is a step up from the Phaeton, for the same money and all other things being equal I would say the mountain Aire.

RE: Worn Goodyear tires

Yes, it is a common problem with Goodyears, it's called rivering. I rotated mine to the rear and will run them as long as possible then replace them with michelins.

RE: Better Mileage with a new Air Filter ?

What was the filter minder reading when the filter was new? at 11,000 miles the filter should not have that much restriction unless it was high to start with because of restrictions in your intake.

RE: Another Newmar Issue...??

If your windows are 5 years old I'm afraid you are on your own. I don't think they will replace them after 3 years.

Ed HeadingtonUnless something has changed Fleetwood will not sell you any parts, they will tell you to go thru a dealer. Been there done that

RE: American Allegiance/Tradition or Tiffin Allegro Bus?

Do you want to hunt for a dealer everytime you need a part or just pick up the phone and have it delivered to your house, overnight if you need it.

RE: Coolant overflow tank

When mine cracked on my Freightliner chassis I took a picture of it and emailed it to a truck salvage company, I got one that was almost new and a different material than the one that was cracking for $50 including shipping. I would bet your tank is used on some brand of trucks as well.

RE: Used Allegro or Country Coach???

That should be a no brainer, 4 years newer with 4 slides, ISL 400, jake brake, good factory support vs 4 years older, smaller engine, exhaust brake Now after saying that I have no idea of the condition of either. As for the quality there are problably more old Allegros on the road than any other brand. $25,000 will buy a lot of fuel but if it is that important buy a $50,000 mh and buy even more fuel.

RE: New F.L. Chassis

The chassis used on motorhomes are the low end of thier design. They seem to sell them as motorhome manufacturers cut corners. If anything they are worse than some older designs. I reviewed the technical sheets and was less than impressed.Would you care to give more details on that statement? If the low end is used on MHs what is the upper end used on?

RE: New F.L. Chassis

I'm very satisfied with my 05 IFS freightliner chassis. I don't know how anyone can lump them all into one catergory, they build them to the manufacturers specs.

RE: Winnebago Tour vs. Tiffin Allegro Bus pros&cons? besides 25k

If you are looking at new you need to look at the power glide chassis, I think you will be impressed with the new features. One more thing, didn't winnie tell some owners that the cracks in the side walls were not their problem? It could have been another company, not sure. My point is Tiffin is replacing side walls in somee 04 and 05 models now that are just showing up, Tell me just one other company that will do that.

RE: 1998 Holiday Rambler Endeaver D/P Price and Value ?

Thanks for the info fellas. That is except Chastho. If you believe NADA does not get all there info from dealers than what do you think the letters NADA stand for? I'm positive they stand for National Auto Dealers Association. And there prices represent what the dealers would like to get for vehicles. Ten to fifty percent higher than there actual value.
Even Kelly uses dealer info.I will take you up on that bet, NADA uses the msrp and deducts a percentage each year for depreciation. This is for MHs which we are talking about. Let me know when you want my mailing address so you can send me the fifty. If you don't want to believe me go ask any dealer, new or used. The dealers use the book to buy and sell and price the trade ins but do not report anything to nada. Thanks for the fifty I can use it.

RE: Another Newmar nightmare !!!!!!

I see people still saying you are the second owner, please explain to me what that has to do with anything. The company that built the MH should stand behind the MH not the buyer. As for the statement that people that buy used are not helping the rv industry, help me understand that. If no one buys used what do the new buyers do with their old ones, crush them for scrap?

RE: Another Newmar nightmare !!!!!!

Interesting how some people defend the manufacturer of their motorhome. The point is the problem is a manufacturing defect, it doesn't matter how many owners it has had, it is still a defect. But I guess if it is not found while under warranty or by the first owner then it is not a defect. I always thought the company should stand behind what they build not the original owner. I know they all have had to tighten up in these times but things like this will come back to bite them. This is a different subject but still related, I stopped by the Tiffin factory a couple of days ago and saw a 04 Allegro Bus in the paint shop just outside the main gate with new walls and being prepared for painting. Bruce Deaton, owner of the shop said Tiffin was replacing the walls because of hairline cracks in them and paying him to repaint them. These people will buy another Tiffin, will the people with the defect buy another Newmar? There is customer service and there is what some people call customer swervice.

RE: 1998 Holiday Rambler Endeaver D/P Price and Value ?

NADA does not get their info from the dealers. If you don't use NADA where are you going to get a price? if you ask someone that owns one you will get a price a lot higher than it will actually sell for.

RE: DP MPG increasing modification

There seems to be some real fuel savings here . I wonder if chassis builders will offer it OEM and offer a retrofit kit ?Tiffin has it on their new chassis and claims the same fuel savings. I'm sure that is on a dyno so actual savings will vary.
